Our Company
Thank you for checking out Dog Guard of Ohio!
Hi, I’m Heather Cottingham, owner and authorized dealer of Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing. I’ve been installing and servicing electric dog fence systems across Ohio for more than 20 years, working with homeowners from Toledo to Youngstown and throughout the surrounding areas.
We’re based in Wadsworth, Ohio and operate as a small, family-run business. Over the years, my kids, Patrick and Chelsea, have helped out with the company in different ways. Today, our team also includes Sarah, who handles installations, training, repairs, and troubleshooting. I stay closely involved in day-to-day operations, including answering calls, providing estimates, and assisting with service when needed.
Each property and each dog is different, so we take the time to configure out of sight fencing systems based on the layout of the yard and the behavior of the dog. Installations and training are tailored to make sure the system works properly and that the dog understands the boundary.
Safe and Reliable Out of Sight Fencing for Your Dog
Dog Guard systems have been used for more than 30 years and are veterinarian tested and recommended. The system is designed to create a consistent boundary for your dog using a receiver collar that delivers a controlled correction when the boundary is approached. When installed and used properly, the system is safe and not harmful to animals, relying on training and consistency rather than force.
The equipment is manufactured in the United States and built for long-term reliability. Each system includes hands-on training to help your dog understand the boundary and respond appropriately. Ongoing local support is available for service, adjustments, and troubleshooting, along with a limited lifetime equipment guarantee on qualifying components.

Sarah Dupert
LEAD INSTALLER & TRAINER
Sarah has been with Dog Guard of Ohio since 2017. She began by working in the field and became our first solo installer and trainer! She's trained plenty of dogs and has had a couple run-ins with some rather feisty ones, but she loves all of them regardless! A dog lover, through and through. She's answered phones, runs our social media, given estimates and has been on more service calls than she count.
Why Pet Owners Choose Dog Guard of Ohio
Dog Guard of Ohio provides out of sight fencing and underground dog fence installation for homeowners across Northeast Ohio. These systems create a clearly defined boundary that allows dogs to move freely within the yard while preventing access to areas such as roads, driveways, and neighboring properties.
Each system is configured based on the layout of the property and the behavior of the dog to ensure consistent containment.
Quality Installation and Ongoing Service
Every out of sight fencing system is professionally installed, tested, and adjusted to match the specific property. This includes boundary wire placement, signal field verification, and system calibration.
Dog Guard of Ohio also provides ongoing service, including repairs, wire locates, and system troubleshooting for underground dog fence systems.
Safe and Controlled Containment
Underground dog fence systems use a buried boundary wire to create a signal field around the property. The receiver collar delivers a controlled correction only when a dog approaches or crosses the boundary.
The system does not use physical fencing and the boundary wire does not carry household electrical current, making it a safe and effective option when installed and used properly.
Local Installation and Support
As a local Northeast Ohio dog fence installer, Dog Guard of Ohio works directly with homeowners to plan and install systems based on their yard and specific containment needs.
Service is available for new installations, upgrades, and existing underground dog fence systems from multiple brands.
Designed for Everyday Use
Out of sight fencing systems are designed to allow dogs to use the full yard within a defined boundary. With proper installation and training, the system provides a consistent containment solution that reduces the need for constant supervision.
